The Jagannath Temple of Puri holds great importance among the Hindus. It is one of the Char (four) Dhams which are sacred to the followers of Hinduism. The trio of Jagannath, Balaram and Suvadra is worshiped in this holy temple.
Rath Yatra or Chariot festival is the main festival celebrated every year on the 2nd day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing cycle of the moon) in the month of Asadh which is the 3rd month according to the lunar calendar of India. Rath yatra is very popular among tourist.

Interesting and Amazing  facts of Jagannath temple

i) The construction of temple is such that the shadow of the main dome of the temple cannot be observed at any given time.The shadow of the main dome is invisible at any time of the day.

ii) The flag atop the temple has been observed to flap in the opposite direction of the breeze

iii) After entering the temple from Singha dwara’s entrance, after the first step you cannot hear any sound produced by the ocean. But, when you exit it can be clearly heard.

iv) No planes , not even birds flies above the temple.

v) The prasadam is cooked in pots using firewood. Exactly 7 pots are put one on top of another. Surprisingly, the top most pot is cooked first followed by the bottom pots in order. Ganga river flows inside the Temple kitchen but you cannot see it from outside.Also the food cooked inside the temple everyday will not go waste.

Dwarkadheesh Temple is also known as the Jagat Mandir. Dwarkadheesh Temple is made from limestone and sand. The spire of the temple is about 170 feet high. The temple is one of the important Moksh Dhams of India.Dwarka has a special importance as one of the major Hindu pilgrim place, as it was a capital of Lord Krishna's Kingdom. There are two gateways: swarga dwar (gate to the heavens), where pilgrims enter, and moksha dwar (gate to liberation), where pilgrims exit.

Pooja Timings at Dwarkadheesh Temple are morning 6:30AM to Afternoon 1:00PM and Evening 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

Festival celebrated is Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna. On Janmashtami, Dwarkadhish Temple in Dwarka is adorned beautifully.
